God told Jonah to go to Nineveh and tell the people to stop doing wrong things. But Jonah ran away and got on a ship going the other way.

God sent a big storm. The sailors were afraid, and Jonah knew it was because he disobeyed God. He told them to throw him into the sea, and the storm stopped.

God sent a huge fish to swallow Jonah. Jonah prayed inside the fish for three days and nights, asking God to forgive him.

God made the fish spit Jonah out onto dry land. Jonah obeyed God and went to Nineveh, and the people listened and turned back to God.
