AUGUST 2023 CHALLENGE – “Count Your Blessings”
We would be delighted to have you join us in this “easy-peasy” Northgate URC Summer Challenge in aid of Church funds.
Every day throughout August a new “challenge” will appear immediately under the “BLESSINGS” graphic below. It will ask you to calculate a small payment amount, to be made in thanksgiving for a particular blessing.
All challenges will remain shown on the page until 7 September to allow “catch up” if required.
Collect your calculated daily payments in a bag or a box. Alternatively you could just keep a written tally, and pay your total amount when all of the 31 daily challenges have been completed.
You can even pay by card!

Day 31: Give 40p if you have had fish and chips at the seaside this month, or 30p if you have had an ice cream on a day out. Day 30: Give 30p if you have been swimming out of doors, or paddled, or had a hot tub this month. Day 29: Grandparents and grandchildren are great. Give 20p per grand child you have, or 20p per grandparent you have. Day 28: Give 25p for every birthday in your family or close friends this month. Day 27: Hearing the birds or watching the sea are great summer blessings. Give 15p for every pair of glasses, sunglasses, or hearing aids in your house! Day 26: Fresh vegetables and fruit are delicious. Give 10p for every type you grow yourself. Day 25: Holiday and family photographs give us such pleasure. Give 10p per camera or phone in your house. Day 24: Family life is very precious. Give 5p for each member of your family you will see this summer. Day 23: The Bible is the most blessed book we have. Give 10p for every Bible in your house- give 30p if you have not opened one today. Day 22: Friends and family are wonderful blessings! Give 10p for every communication device – phone, mobile, portal – in your house. Day 21: Music is a wonderful blessing. Give 10p for each time you listen to music today. Day 20: Some people say a dog is man’s best friend. Give 30p for each pet you have. (30p if you have an aquarium!) Day 19: Some people in the world do not have enough food. Give 10p for each meal you have today. Day 18: We have electric appliances that help in the kitchen. Give 10p for each one you have in your kitchen. Day 17: Summer sports can be fun. Give 5p for every member of your family who plays a sport, and 10p if you enjoy watching. Day 16: Gardens bring us joy. Give 15p for each vase of flowers, 10p for each house plant, and 5p for every artificial plant in your house. Day 15: The weather forecast is crucial when on holiday! Give 20p for every day of sun this week, and 10p for each rainy day. Day 14: We are blessed by being able to buy all we really need. Give 10p for every time you do shopping this week including on line. Day 13: TV, radio, and other devices such as smart speakers are a great blessing. Give 5p for each type of device you use. Day 12: Not everyone owns their own transport – give 5p per wheel on each car/bike you own, or 10p for every bus you travel on this week. Day 11: Trees are a precious resource from which paper is made. Give 10p for any book bought this month, or 50p if none. Day 10: Many of us count a good book or magazine a blessing when on holiday. Give 20p per book and 10p per magazine read this month. Day 9: Some people do not have a home, never mind a holiday. Give 5p for every room in your house. Day 8: We are blessed that many of us can travel abroad. Give 10p for every country you have ever visited. Day 7: Holiday postcards are fun. Give 10p for each one you send or receive. Day 6: A fire is a blessing on a cool evening. Give 10p for every fire in your house – or garden. Day 5: Nights can still be chilly in summer; bedding is a blessing. Give 10p per duvet or blanket in your house. Day 4: Caravan, camping, cottage, or cruise ship beds are fun on holiday. Give 10p for each bed in your house. Day 3: Sea is a much loved part of many holidays. Give 15p for every sea or ocean you cross this summer! Day 2: Many people never have a holiday. Give 30p if you had a holiday last year, and 30p for any this year. Day 1: Pray that you may use your time wisely. Give 5p for every clock or watch in your house.
